If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: almost no elite team has fully “ethical” recruiting. Coach had a good point, that one thing Saban especially does, is bring in top recruits, but then throw them to the side at the last minute so they can’t transfer. That’s why they never announce their opening day starter until 24 hours before their first game. Which is a not so good thing to do, but you know what you’re getting into.
So while I’m taking the side of the coach in that respect, it’s not the position of a high school football coach to decide where his players go to school, or who they get to talk to. You can give advice, but to ban certain schools from coming in just hurts the player. Let them make a decision, even if it’s a stupid one. Nick Saban owns the South. He lives in the brains of every high school and college football coach south of the Mason-Dixon line. If the south secedes again, is there any doubt who their president would be?
