KD Has Tripled His Armed Security For His OKC Return

Kevin Durant and his business manager, Rich Kleiman, are taking preventive safety measures as Durant heads back to Oklahoma City on Saturday for the first time as a member of the Golden State Warriors. A heightened armed security team has been procured, tripling the normal amount of security personnel the Warriors typically travel with, league sources told ESPN. During what is expected to be an emotionally charged, contentious scene at Chesapeake Energy Arena, Kleiman — who orchestrated Durant’s free-agent meetings in The Hamptons last offseason — will sit next to Durant’s mother, Wanda, sources said. A group of security officials will be strictly assigned to ensure they are supervised and protected throughout the game, sources said.

Even I, the self-proclaimed premiere Warriors hater, can’t advocate for violence against KD or his mother. Like, I understand why he’s going with the extra security, especially for his mother (should note that the advice to get extra security came from Lebron’s agent Rich Paul), but do you really think people in Oklahoma City would try to physically hurt KD? How many cities would that happen in if a player left the way KD left, like 3? Maybe New York, Detroit, and Cleveland, just because they’ve been there before.

Thunder by 100 tonight. But please please please, don’t try and fight KD. I don’t like him, but he did more for OKC than any human being before him or after him. The amount of business the Thunder brought in, the relief he donated after the tornado, etc. etc. Boo the hell out of him. Deafening boos at the intro, and every time he touches the ball. Let’s not try to kill him though, alright?
