We see this every year. A 5-star recruit makes his decision on where he is going to attend college and play football on National Signing Day. ESPN sends a crew to the kids’ high school where he sits in front of a table with 3-5 hats of different schools on the table. Probably the biggest day of this high school student’s life, thus far. He chooses the hat where he wants to attend college. Then, gets destroyed on social media by the fan bases of the schools he didn’t pick.
It absolutely blows my mind that people are so concerned about where a 17-18 year old decides to attend college that they heckle the recruit on social media. IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! People who use social media to ridicule a high school student for not picking “their” school (that they probably didn’t even attend) are the WORST. Grown men tweeting horrible remarks at high school students because the student made a decision about where HE wants to go to school. If you’re someone who does this I have one piece of advice for you: GET A LIFE! These student athletes owe you nothing. Where they decide to attend college is a decision that is completely, and entirely, up to them.
