Marian Hossa, a thirty-seven year old right wing from Czechoslovakia has dominated this year for the Chicago Blackhawks. His first goal this season was quite unique because it was the 500th of his career, which is an outstanding achievement. The number 500 is pretty significant in every sport, so it was a very special moment when Hossa found the back of the net for the first time this year.
Hossa has recorded fifteen points (nine goals and six assists) and also has a +/- of +7 in sixteen games this season. This historic start has helped the Blackhawks to a first place start (11-4-2). Hossa has three power play goals this season and also one game winner.
Look for the Demigod (Hossa’s nickname) to continue to put up numbers this year as long as he stays healthy. He is averaging about 17:15 on the ice per game, which is his lowest time since 1999, however, he is capitalizing when he is on the ice. Look for him to be in the news in the near future because he is close to his 600th career assist (currently at 596).
