Internet trends come and go weekly. Some gain more notoriety thank others, for example the “Harlem Shake” and the “Running Man Challenge.” But, there is a new sheriff in the town of internet trends, that being the “Mannequin Challenge” and it is easily the creepiest/most awesome trend I’ve ever seen.
Over the weekend, it seemed like nearly everyone posted their Mannequin Challenge videos on social media. From sports teams, to frats/sororities, or even just a couple of random people. But, by far the most impressive one I saw was from the BYU Gymnastics team.

Girls holding themselves up on the poles where they do all of the flips and spins (I have no idea what it’s called) sideways and in mid rotation which had to take incredible upper body strength. You saw others holding a handstand pose with their legs going every which way on the flat bar (once again don’t know what it’s called but you get the point). Just impressive.
On the flip side, the University of Cincinnati Dance Team took home gold for the creepiest Mannequin Challenge video.

Girls doing their makeup, taking selfies, drinking coffee, amongst other things all while holding their pose. This seriously looked like a real life wax museum, which are creepy enough as it is. Yes, it was creepy, but it was also still very impressive. These girls literally looked fake, or like mannequins.
So, congratulations to the BYU Gymnastics team and the University of Cincinnati Dance Team. You have successfully impressed me and creeped me out all at the same time.
