The LSU and Florida game scheduled for tomorrow in Gainesville has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew. Southeastern Conference officials and officials from both of the schools tried everything in their power to get the game played but the circumstances don’t permit the game to be played.
There were talks of playing the game at LSU or a different location but that was not a possibility. Ultimately the SEC determined that with the magnitude of Hurricane Matthew and for the safety of everyone involved postponing the game is the best decision.
The problem occurs down the road because neither of the teams have an open date in their schedules to make up the game. Whether or not the SEC and both of the schools will be able to find a time to make up the game is to be determined. This could affect both the East and West divisions in the SEC with the Tigers in the West and the Gators in the East.
This is one of seven games so far that has either been rescheduled or postponed due to the hurricane.
