Thank You, Robbie

“Good as Gould” is a phrase that I am used to hearing on Sunday afternoons every year.  This won’t be the case anymore because the Bears just released their Hall of Fame kicker yesterday.  I was shocked to hear the news because Gould has been the Bears most consistent player over the years (which is pretty sad if you think about it….).

Robbie had been a fan favorite since his rookie year in 2005.  He converted 276 career field goals (career long: 58 yarder) and he was 99% on extra points in his career.  2011 was a historic year for Gould, he went 6/6 from beyond 50 yards (including a 57 yarder).  In 2013, he converted 89.7% of his field goals and he chipped in 45 extra points.

Robbie will leave the Bears as their current ALL TIME LEADING SCORER and he is listed as the nineth most accurate kicker in NFL history (85.449%).  I will always remember the game that I attended in 2013 when Gould hit a game winner in overtime to beat the Ravens; one of his twelve career game winners.  As a Bears fan, I would just like to say thank you to one of the greatest kickers to ever live, you brought joy to the city of Chicago for many years.  Once a Bear, always a Bear, Bear Down Robbie!
