Not the defense, the offense, the coaching, but Matt mothertrucking McConaughey turned out to be the x-factor for the Longhorns, in a game that saved Charlie Strong’s job.
Before the ball was kicked off, Strong invited the Matty boy out to UT practice to pump the fellas up. He’s a UT grad, and has done it in previous seasons, but this year seemed like it meant a little more to him:
“You oughta have butterflies!”
As usual with McConaughey, I only understand about 2/3 of what he said. And it still seems a little odd that he’s the one they’re bringing in for the signature speech, before the biggest game of the season. Not Vince Young, or another player? If it works, it works.
Alright, alright, alright.
